Love

My response to the Feraco Blog Assignment:

Love once used to be a subject that I could discuss about endlessly for days. From what I witnessed in movies and television shows, love just seemed so fascinating. The happiness, affection, and passion all looked intriguing. It was something that I anticipated to experience. That of course, used to be my days of naïveté and inexperience. These days when I converse of love, I feel a sense of discomfort and insecurity - probably because of my encounters with the boundaries of love. Nevertheless, love is a bittersweet emotion. It elevates; it decimates. I truly believe that: a life without experiencing love is a life unfulfilled.

Human beings dare to love because it’s an emotion unlike any other. It risks the circumstances of feeling ultimate heartbreak or true happiness. You ask – why would people want to take the chances of feeling heartbreak? I believe that the answer to that question falls under the same concept as the leap of faith into the unknown. You’re not exactly sure of what’s on the other side, but you know it’ll be worthwhile. Love and life go hand in hand- Can you live with the knowledge that you have taken a chance, regardless of its consequences? Or can you live the rest of your life wondering “what if”? Can you live without taking that chance? Thus I believe that it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.
